English 2 Unit 8: Prepositions

Preposition หรือ คำบุพบท ทำหน้าที่เชื่อม คำนาม (nouns) สรรพนาม (pronouns) เข้ากับกลุ่มคำหรือประโยค ส่วนที่ตามหลัง preposition เรียกว่า object of preposition (กรรมของบุพบท)

เราใช้ preposition บอกเวลา สถานที่ ทิศทาง หรือบอกความสัมพันธ์อื่นๆในประโยค เช่น

The book is in the box. หนังสืออยู่ในกล่อง

The book is on the table. หนังสืออยู่บนโต๊ะ

The book is under the table. หนังสืออยู่ใต้โต๊ะ

The book is leaning against the table. หนังสือตั้งพิงโต๊ะอยู่

The book is beside the table. หนังสืออยู่ข้างโต๊ะ

She held the book over the table. เขาถือหนังสืออยู่เหนือโต๊ะ

She read the book during class. เขาอ่านหนังสือระหว่างอยู่ในชั้นเรียน

in + เดือน/เช้า บ่าย ค่ำ/ฤดู/ปี
on + วัน/วันที่
at + เวลาตามนาฬิกา/the weekend/night/noon/midnight/midday

1. across ข้ามไปอีกฝั่งหนึ่ง
เช่น David walked across the field. เดวิดเดินข้ามทุ่ง
Jane swam across the river to the other side. เจนว่ายน้ำข้ามไปอีกฝั่ง

2. along ไปตามแนวสถานที่ใดที่หนึ่ง สิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง
เช่น David jogs along the riverbank. เดวิดวิ่ง(ไปตามทาง)ริมแม่น้ำ
Jane looked at the beautiful trees along the road. เจนมองดูต้นไม้ที่เรียงรายอยู่ตามแนวถนน

3. past ผ่าน (ไปด้านนอก)
เช่น He drives past the post office every day. เขาขับรถผ่านไปรษณีย์ทุกวัน

4. through ทะลุผ่าน
เช่น He drives through the university to get to the road on the other side. เขาขับรถทะลุมหาวิทยาลัยเพื่อไปออกถนนอีกด้านหนึ่ง

5. up ขึ้นด้านบน
เข่น David walks up the stairs. เดวิดเดินขึ้นบันได

6. down ลงด้านล่าง
เช่น Jane looks down and saw a small puppy. เจนก้มมองแล้วจึงเห็นลูกสุนัขตัวเล็กๆ

7. into เข้าไปด้านใน
เช่น She went into her room to get dressed. เขาเข้าไปในห้องเพื่อแต่งตัว

8. out of ออกไปด้านนอก
เช่น David came out of the meeting room at 2 P.M. เดวิดออกมาจากห้องประชุมตอนบ่ายสอง (ทูพีเอ็ม อิอิ ^^)
